Gameplay
How Cut a Rock works
You mine deeper into the ground by breaking through floors and cutting rocks. Cutting a rock reveals the materials hidden inside, and some rocks hold rare treasures. Your goal is to gather these finds, reach lower floors, and grow stronger over time.
Selling what you find brings in money, which you can spend to upgrade your machines. Training on anvils gives you Power, which is a separate measure of progress. Your progress keeps going while you are away, because your machines continue cutting and Power still builds up offline.
What sets the game apart is its collection system. An Index tracks what you have found, and completing its entries unlocks powerful auras. Stronger pickaxes and deeper floors give you access to better rocks and better rewards.

- FloorsYou break through floors to reach deeper parts of the mine. Each deeper floor gives access to new rocks.
- PickaxesStronger pickaxes are collected as you progress. A better pickaxe helps you reach deeper floors.
- MachinesMachines cut rocks for you, including while you are away. Upgrading them is one of the uses for money from selling finds.
- AnvilsAnvils in the AFK training area each have a training multiplier, from 25x up to 200x. Some anvils need a number of Index entries completed before you can use them. The 200x anvil needs 24 Index entries.
